Spring trends

This season has definitely gone back to the 70s!  For years now, Fashionistas have been swarmed with leggings and slim fit pants, we recently had a brief love affair with Harlem pants (which are on their way out) and now it seems that anything goes - from flared to skinny and anything in between.  Keep it funky for the upcoming spring season!

I was blogging about the spring fashion shows back in the fall, but I thought since the weather is going to get warmer soon (here's hoping) I would share with you some of the trends I think will be HUGE this spring.

Trend # 1 - CUT OUTS
I saw this first at Versace and I am in love.  I just got an outfit shot with a top I recently bought with cut out shoulders, I will post the pictures this week.  Just a few photos from their runway as well as a gorgeous outfit from Yves Saint Laurent following the same trend.

 Versace

I am also in love with the shoes from this line!

Yves Saint Laurent

Trend # 2 - FLOWERS
How appropriate for spring!  Flowers are showing up everywhere on the runway from necklines, prints to headpieces and stand-out accessories.
 Yves Saint Laurent

Marc Jacobs

Trend # 3 - BRIGHTS & STRIPES
A la Sonia Rykiel, the runway is swarmed with bright, bold colours and stripes.

 Prada
 Marc Jacobs

Even us simple girls love Haute Couture...

Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Spring 2011

This line by a long-time admired designer has me drooling over its sharp strong silhouettes, shapes, and lines.
The structure of these outfits are screaming powerful femininity.
Of course I am in love with the black and white colour palette.
The headpieces are going to be huge for spring as well.  Marc Jacobs has already started to make these popular with the use of flowers all over his spring ready-to-wear line.
If anything is in my price range it would be the sunglasses which are really nice as well.
I adore the chokers they pull together the outfits really well.
This whole line is extremely classy and inspirational.  Thanks to style.com for the pictures!  Check them out for more.

What a great shot!  He always knows how to have fun with his haute couture lines.  Thanks Jean-Paul!

Baby, it's cold outside...

Clouds above go sailing by
I found my meaning in this life
Clear white is flying in my eyes
Underneath a blue blue sky
The waves come rolling in with the tide.

All the people rushing by by by
Looking for meaning in this life
So used up and blinded by lies
They're underneath the blue blue sky
The way they seldom seem to smile
I don't know why

I've been away too long
And everyday I missed you more
You look like you did before only prettier
Everyday I love you more
- ARMIN VAN BUUREN -- LOVE YOU MORE

Can you believe it is minus 20 outside?
That's Celcius, for you Americans, I don't really know what the conversion is.  TRANSLATION:  FREEZING COLD.
So I was reminiscing about the Christmas holidays.
I have never had a break that taught me so much about love and life.
It was supposed to be relaxing, and it definitely was, I had time off work, got a lot of great presents, spent a lot of time with people that meant a lot to me, and mostly I really took a lot of time to reflect on choices I have made and people I have chosen to give time and energy to.
It is important that you surround yourself with positive people that will bring joy and happiness to your life and not drain you of your energy.
During the holidays it is also important to take time to reflect on what you have to be thankful for and everyone that has shaped your life and made you who you are.
Just wanted to share a few photos and they are mostly gifts from the people in my life.
I wanted to thank everyone for making my holiday a great one, at home and out West where I visited.
Back in school and starting to dream about the spring...and summer...(who am I kidding I've been doing this since September)
My next post will be about upcoming fashion trends.  What is sticking around, what is leaving, and what I am lusting over for when the warmer weather arrives.  CAN'T WAIT!
To bring you back to the holidays here are some photos and as promised my new LV!!!!

My Louis Vuitton bag.  LOVE IT, even though it is basically bigger than I am.  I take it everywhere.
My babe told me I couldn't touch it, so clearly I had to.
Q:  Why is the hockey hall of fame in Toronto?
A:  That's the only way the Stanley Cup will ever be in Toronto!
Me and the Obamas at the Wax Museum in Niagara Falls, Ontario.  Sporting my LV, of course.
Jess & I downtown Toronto.  Wearing my leather wedge boots from Aldo I got on sale in Alberta.  Facing the cold in bare legs like a true Canadian.
Inside the club.  Blurry Blackberry pic.  As you can see my friend is blonde in this picture but her hair colour never lasts long... :)
At another nightclub in Toronto.  Wearing a skirt from Urban Behaviour, socks from Club Monaco and a random tanktop.
My dresser with some new Christmas goodies.  I had fake nails for two weeks of my life (worst idea ever) and it's been months and my nails are still damaged.  I got some awesome nail trauma treatment, I will post the details in a beauty blog coming soon.
Gorgeous new goodies for Christmas!  They are all gifts except the bracelet I picked up on sale in Banff.
My mom bought a sleigh and put it in our front yard.  I don't know what she plans on doing with that thing for the rest of the year.
My mum and my family on a horse drawn sleigh Christmas eve!  It takes us on a ride around our neighbourhood and has become a yearly tradition for us.

Of course I will leave you with one more picture of my gorgeous new bag...
Thanks again for reading!!!

Cheers to 2011

I drove for miles just to find you and find myself
Only screams all these voices in my head
You gave me strength gave me hope for a lifetime
I never was satisfied

This time won't you save me; this time won't you save me
Baby I can feel myself giving up, giving up
- SAVE ME -- NICKI MENAJ

It's a new year and I am taking some time to re-evaluate myself, my habits and my life.
I am loving my new semester at school.  Way more useful and less stressful than last semester.
My job is really mellow and I have a lot more time coming up to do what I love which is writing, fashion, blogging, and promotions-- I really want to go above and beyond for my blog.  I haven't been using my new camera much or utilizing my creativity in the way that I want.
I have been hardly updating at all but I PROMISE this will change.
Expect big things for 2011 from my blog.
Thank you so much for reading!
I will do a belated Christmas post in the next week to post some of my goodies and hopefully get an outfit up for you too.  Fashion trends and tips coming up too!
For now just a few pictures taken with my Blackberry from New Years and my Alberta trip.
I was visiting with my best friend and dad for two weeks and here are some highlights from my trip.
My Deadmau5 hat!! I found it on a table at the concert my best friend took me to.  Deadmau5 for those who don't know is a DJ from Toronto and he definitely rocks the crowd!!  I've met him before at Guvernment years ago and he kind of creeped me out.  He definitely has skill though!!
Pre-club drinks.  We had champagne and my favourite mixed drink, tequila & tonic.
Getting ready at my best friend's condo!  We decorated a bit as well.
My best friend decorating her condos and some yummy martinis I made.
Dancing up a storm at the club!  The necklace was given to me by my best friend too.
Drunk eyes - love Nat's make up.  She took a make up artist course so she definitely has skills.
Countdown!!!  Deadmau5 only played for an hour and he didn't come on til midnight so everyone was chanting his name at this point.
Cheers!  Happy New Years!!!!!

Dress - Marciano
